So recently I heard a rumor that Breyer was discontinueing the dressage rider and releasing this big-headed doll
The photo of course proves it to be true. Then I was crusing ebay today and saw this
If Breyer releases all of their dolls with these huge cartoony heads I may be in trouble :(
Ew. I keep thinking this can't be right, but the evidence says otherwise. Ew.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first I have heard of this disaster! Yuck! Will the old heads be interchangeable? Can we start a letter writing campaign against it? I was hoping they would make dolls better, as in strengthening the wrist joints but instead they have made things worse!
ReplyDeleteHoly mackerel, who thought this was a good idea?
ReplyDeleteI have been finding ways to improve the bad quality of the breyer dolls. I tighten up elbow and wrist joints, add a bit of waist, restring legs as needed and so on. But the head thing...not sure I can do anything about that. I wrote to Breyer last night and told them that I buy hundreds of dolls a year from them and these dolls are useless for customizing. I don't know if they will even care. I told Joan Yount and she will be writing to them this morning as well. There may be trouble in doll land :(
ReplyDeleteNeed to invent a magical shrinky laser pretty quickly!
ReplyDeleteSorry if this has been covered already and I missed it, but if you're up to the challenge, you might look into making your own dolls' heads from polymer clay. This is a book I have:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.amazon.com/Creating-Lifelike-Figures-Polymer-Clay/dp/0823015033
It focuses primarily on 1/8 and 1/12 scales, but it has instructions for 1/10 proportions and other scales as well.
Hope this helps. :)
Thanks for the link GWR. I have tried sculpting heads and can sometimes do an OK man head (I have instructions I follow). I still haven't managed a decent lady head. I am really hoping we can stop the Breyer madness!
ReplyDeleteOk I'm going to run screaming into the night.....ok back now I really hoped it was fake, but guess not.they just look to weird:\
ReplyDeleteah my gosh!! That is HIDEOUS!!! Since when do people have bobble heads like that? Seriously Breyer, your meant to be trying to make things as real as possible, howare you helping with, well...that?!
ReplyDeleteGood on you guys contacting them about it
