Change of plans

     Yesterday I planned to make some dolls, or at least work on pieces of some dolls. But then plans needed to change. Sometimes mid-morning I got a message from Ethan that there was a message on the answering machine and he thinks my machine is ready. What??? I didn't think I would ever get that back! Then after school I got a call from Travis's teacher after I had been home for a bit and she said his bus JUST came and got him.. So I knew I had a good wait ahead of me. I was thinking in the back of my mind that I could get started on some of the dolling but then I saw some guy I didn't know with a name badge coming up the driveway. Poop, I don't have time for this. But I can't help but be nice to people (for awhile) and polite, so I went out to talk to him. I don't just let strange people into my house when I am alone after all. 

     So the salesman was selling some all natural or organic or something cleaner, that is in fact fairly amazing. And he cleaned a variety of random things out in my driveway. A piece of the railing (that one I wish he hadn't, it now looks really bad with one clean spot) and a piece of the siding that has some mold on it. Some rusty bicycle rims, and so on. He looked like he was having a good time. And he tried really hard to sell me his cleaner. And I said no a lot of times. It really looks to be amazing stuff. But I can't help but wonder if that is a scam. Maybe he has this amazing cleaner in his personal spray bottle and maybe the $60 a gallon (which was a discounted price) stuff he gave me would be something different that doesn't work. It bugs me sometimes that I think like that. But I looked at his pamphlet about the product and I didn't see any contact info. Anyway, when you have to pay for sewing machine repairs, you don't have $60 to spend on cleaners that may or may not work. No matter how amazing they seem to be. 

    After Travis finally got home we went out to Parson's to pick up my sewing machine. Finally. And really, it was not too bad. The tune-up was $89 and change and I already knew that up front. Plus the machine needed a new bobbin case and that was another $35. She fixed the timing, cleaned it did some other stuff. I only saw the list so far. I didn't have a chance to try it out because I have other things that need doing. But I have my machine back. And in comparison to the Singer, it is heavy! And big, lol. 
      I still have a need to work on dolls. But I also had a personal need to read The Ocean at the End of the Lane. Which was the summer reading book for seniors this year. I have never worked with a teacher that actually did anything in relation to the summer reading books. Or if I have, I had already read the book. But the kids had a discussion about it yesterday, and had to work on answers from questions about it, to turn into an essay. And I had not read the book! Though I did know some theology and mythology to add to the discussion anyway. Dr. Johnson told me that the thing I said about the 3 aspects of the pagan goddess was the next thing he was going to say. And he seemed really happy that I had jumped into the discussion. It is fantastic to work with people that value me as part of the teaching team. It has not always been like that. 
     So anyway, I confidently said to the librarian on the way out with the book yesterday that I would finish it last night. I lied. I have 13 pages left and I had to go to bed and just couldn't push through. I guess I COULD have, but I like to stick to my bedtime, lol. 
    This post I am in fact writing at 5:30 in the morning because I also didn't have time for that yesterday. At this point I would feel bad if I didn't put up a blog every day. I hope this doesn't suck too much. I need to go pack lunches and read 13 more pages. And coffee, that need to happen. I am working on a post (mostly in my head so far) about when to use glue and when to sew. At least when I use glue and when I sew. And what stitches to use and so on. The stitch thing is pretty easy. Straight and as small as you can get. Unless you are gathering things. So I guess it's simple but not always. OK, I have things that need doing. I hope everyone has a great day!
